CFI :: Region Four Bargaining Update

Your Region 4 bargaining committee has wanted to write this update for several weeks now, and the day is finally here.

Yesterday, at the Judicial Council Offices in Burbank, both parties reached a tentative agreement on the whole contract. It was another long day, though not as long as some other sessions we have had, but by the close of business all remaining articles were signed.

We are very proud of our finished product and prouder still of all the hard work it took to get us here, so the next step is to present it to our members for ratification.

To that end, a meeting has been scheduled for this Saturday, August 6th, at 2 p.m. The location will be the CWA office located at 140 S. Flower, Orange, CA 92868.

Ratification meetings are generally for members only but since this is our very first contract, CFI’s governing board has agreed to welcome all interpreter employees. However, only members in good standing as of 8/2/05 will be allowed to vote. There will be no exceptions.

So please join us. We will have copies of the contract available and the committee will be reviewing all the articles in detail. There will be a question and answer session and the votes will be tallied at the end of the meeting.

The committee has been instructed not to give out any details as to the contents of the contract before Saturday, so please do not contact them about this.
